How are we all this fine day? It is so difficult to not moan when my horrible cold still hasn’t gone π¦ At least my Bento is smiling!
Today, I had leftover smiley faces (BEST EVER!) that the bf cooked, leftover quorn mince quick stir fry and salad. I also mixed up some wasabi mayo to go with the salad and smily faces π
It was so yummy! I was lucky I hadn’t chowed down on it before I remembered to take a picture! The bf had exactly the same, but his was in a proper bento box :S bad me I know!
Hows everyones Christmas wrapping going?
I made cakes at the weekend! π yay!
Yummy cakes, for my friends christmas presents, a family gathering I wasn’t able to attend, the office, and general home munching π
I made quite a few flavours, but the ones I’ve got pictures of on the computer today are the vanilla sprinkles cupcakes (top), chocolate peppermint cupcakes (above) and chocolate oatie cranberry cakes (the pink ones in the picture below).
This picture is the plate that my parents took the family gathering I couldn’t attend. Apparently they didn’t last long!!
I wasn’t feeling the icing, so no swirling, but everyone said they were tasty π yay!
Recipe:
– Basic sponge mix (family recipe – no can tell!) – any sponge mix will work
– Add chocolate peppermint hot chocolate and broken up candy canes for the choco peppermint ones, and ice them with peppermint butter icing and a piece of chocolate or candy.
– Add sprinkles and a little bit of yellow food colouring to the sprinkles cupcakes, and ice with plain icing and sprinkles!!
– Add oats and chocolate powder to the chocolate oatie cookies and ice them with icing sugar mixed with heated cranberry sauce!
I’ll post a recipe on here soon that I can tell you, I promise!!
What christmassy flavours would go into cupcakes do you reckon? I want to make some more!!
More Bento! I’m getting so good! Monday and the brain is in gear already, woohoo!!
Monday Bento is leftovers from Sunday night rice. I had a few people round and I made them firecracker rice π If you have been to Yo Sushi, then you know what I mean, the rice is delish! Anyway, I was so lucky there was a little bit of rice left for the bentos this morning, everyone loved it!
In my bento is leftover firecracker rice topped with sesame seeds, steamed mixed veg (pepper, tomatoes, pak choi and kale), chopped up veggie hotdog, and a little dollop of wasabi mayonnaise. My stomach was so happy with the lunch today! So much flavour!
I need to get better at taking Bento photos though, any recommendations??
Wooh, more Bento posts!! π I’m impressed at my ability to remember to photograph them, as well as make them with this stinker of a cold π¦
Vague Christmassy feel to this one. Sushi rice with a green Christmas Tree π Can you see it?? I used my new Food cutters that my mum bought me the other day! I also had pickled sushi ginger, umeboshi, soy sauce (in two mini containers – there was a lot of rice!) and a mix of tomatoes, pak choi and yellow peppers π yummy!
The bf had the same but with a bell shape (green rice).
I’m not so good at kyaraben so this is one of my better attempts at something cute/picturey.
What Christmas things have you guys been up too? I am doing a lot of baking this weekend, expect lots of pics and yummy bentos next week with the produce!!
Todays Bento is Christmas themed π
It is in a not-so-special microwavable box so I could have it warm π We need all things warm in this weather!! My little car said i was -7 out when I drove to work this morning π¦ I’m so wrapped up, I could be made of clothes, not made of person! Haha…yeah, so… Bento!!
Today I had Christmas shaped tricolour pasta with tomato and basil pasta sauce, mixed with black olives (which taste AMAZING hot :P). On the side there is sliced pak choi, yellow pepper and cheese (which melted because I didn’t eat it before I microwaved the pot :S oops!! Placed on top of the pasta is a Christmas tree cut-out from the leaf of the pak choi π
It was so tasty!! And so filling and warm π I love warm lunches!
I’m so glad my local supermarket has pak choi too! I can’t wait to use it in a stir fry, or more bentos.
The Christmas tree cookie cutter that was used to cut out the pak choi leaf shape was not from my new treatsΒ because I didn’t want to open the pack and get one all dirty when my mum had one in the drawer. Yay!
Is anyone getting excited for Christmas? I am, sort of… I can’t wait for baking and christmas crafts, but I hate colds and sneezes and all the illnesses that accompany this chilly weather. Boo to colds!
Are you baking this Christmas? I’d love to know your favourite Christmas treats that you make/buy.
I didn’t have a bento in a box today, but I did have a flask of plain miso soup (made with red miso paste) and a box of steamed veggies (sweet potato, kale, pepper, pak choi, tomatoes and olives). I added the vegetables to my soup π yummy!
The photo of the veggies is sort of half eaten. I had already munched all the olives :S oopsie!
Must get my bento making head back on for the rest of the week π
